Our Mission

To honor the experiences of people affected by crime and those who serve them by:

  • Cultivating high quality educational opportunities responsive to the diverse needs in the victim services field;
  • Raising awareness among victim service providers of Kansas legislative developments that impact crime victims; and
  • Unifying and supporting a network of victim-centered service providers.

Goals & Objectives for 2020-2022

Goal 1 (Meets Focus areas 1, 2, and 3) Increase the functionality of the KOVA website for KOVA members.

Objective 1: Create process to fully manage KOVA membership status online.
Objective 2: Provide access to resources needed to maximize membership benefit.

Goal 2 (Meets Focus areas 1, 2, and 3) Increase the diversity and level of involvement of KOVA members.

Objective 1: Map the current membership and leadership involvement of KOVA members.
Objective 2: Create a plan to increase membership and leadership involvement based on the mapping exercise.
Objective 3: Revise the by-laws to reflect current practices, and to update the Executive Leadership model.

Goal 3 (Meets Focus areas 1, 2, and 3) Build capacity for sustainable education provision.

Objective 1: Implement a needs assessment to establish current education gaps in the Kansas victim services field.
Objective 2: Create at least two partnerships with other organizations to connect our members to existing victim services training.

Goal 4 (Meets Focus areas 1, 2, and 3) Explore KOVA sustainability and growth potential by adding staff support.

Objective 1: Research the funding options/limitations of a 501c4.
Objective 2: Connect with at least two potential funders.
